The Office Manager/Executive Assistant (OM/EA) works under the general direction of the Public Defender Director and Deputy Chiefs, advancing the Office’s mission of providing client-centered representation. The OM/EA assists the Director with day-to-day scheduling, project management, and office-wide administrative support, serving as the first contact between the Director and stakeholders. The role offers highly responsible, confidential executive support to the Director, Deputy Chiefs, and Executive Team.
The OM/EA leads a large support staff, managing file organization, policy communication, workload distribution, duty assignments, case management support, and timely performance evaluations. The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication, heavy calendaring, advanced Microsoft Office skills, multitasking, time‑management, organization, detail orientation, and strong judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution AND have a minimum of one (1) year of full‑time supervisory experience.
- OR possess an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution AND have a minimum of four (4) years of full‑time supervisory experience.
- OR possess a High School Graduation degree or a high‑school equivalency diploma AND have seven (7) years of full‑time secretarial, general office, or responsible administrative experience.
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activities requiring occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty‑five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSAn employee in this class generally works in the Public Defender’s office; occasional travel throughout the county and attendance at community events may be required.
