Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician

Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide locum tenens coverage. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative inpatient psychiatric team in a modern, state-of-the-art facility. Sporadic coverage is needed for the remainder of 2025, with a full-time assignment beginning January 2026.

• Schedule:

  • Sporadic coverage through 2025

  • Starting Jan 2026:
    Full-time, Monday Friday (8a 5p)

  • Weekday Call: 5p 8a (unrestricted, if able)

  • Weekend Call: 1:4 rotation

• Practice Setting: Inpatient Psychiatric Department

• Patients per Day: 12

• Total Beds: 27

• Team Structure: 5 Psychiatrists, 6 APPs (NPs), no psychologists

• Supervision: Required for Psychiatric NP

• Referrals: Primarily from Muskegon and Grand Rapids EDs

• Support: Security on site 24/7, staff duress system

• Patient Population: Adults only (no pediatrics)

• EMR: Epic

• Treatment Disorders: Anxiety, affective, ADHD, personality, eating, developmental, psychotic, organic disorders

• Required Familiarity With:

  • Involuntary commitments

  • Seclusion therapy

  • Pharmacotherapy

  • Group therapy

  • Restraint application

• Board Certified in Psychiatry REQUIRED

• Active MI License or IMLC/LOQ IPL will help with IMLC Licensure!

• BLS Certification REQUIRED

• Competitive hourly and call rates (malpractice included)

• Flight, hotel (up to $200/night after taxes/fees; preferred: Shoreline Inn, Delta Hotel, Holiday Inn Muskegon or Grand Haven), rental car, and mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate

• Orientation paid

• Credentialing timeframe 3 months, but coverage is needed ASAP
