Adjunct Math Instructor – Part-Time – Muskegon, Michigan
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses (day, night, online) at main campus and extension centers; maintain class schedules.
- Establish and promote effective learning environments to maximize student learning.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
- Grade assignments in a meaningful way, returning graded assignments promptly; assign final grades for all students, meeting institutional deadlines.
- Provide educational assistance during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
- Encourage student survey completion for each class and review summary data to assist with student success.
- Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline.
- Prefer teaching experience at the college level.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
- Experience with instructional technology preferred.
Detailed work, student contact, deadline oriented, problem situations, multiple priorities & demands, emergency situations, confidentiality, on-call availability, continual interruptions, working alone, faculty contact, working with others.
Physical demands: standing & walking, sitting, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, climbing or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, squatting, handle, reach, talking, tasting/smelling, working overhead, speaking in English via phone or in person, vision.
Work EnvironmentExposure to wet, humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat/cold; normal office environment with little heat, dust, noise. Ability to travel to all campus locations required.
