Adjunct Welding Instructor – Inside Higher Ed
Inside Higher Ed invites qualified individuals to serve as an Adjunct Welding Instructor at Muskegon Community College, a community college that offers a range of associate degree programs.
OverviewThis part‑time position is open until filled. Candidates must submit unofficial transcripts when applying. Applicants may teach at the main campus and extension centers, offering day, evening, and online courses. The role supports student recruitment, retention, and success through curriculum development, assessment, and instructional innovation.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned welding courses (day, night, online) and ensure punctual attendance.
- Create a supportive learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain student learning reports.
- Grade assignments thoughtfully, return grades promptly, and assign final grades meeting institutional deadlines.
- Provide educational assistance during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
- Encourage completion of student opinion surveys and review results to improve success.
- Maintain professional knowledge, including compliance training or required hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Detail work, student contact, deadline orientation, problem situations, multiple priorities, emergency situations, confidentiality.
- On‑call availability (optional); work alone and with others.
- Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Movement—pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, climbing, stowing, squatting, reaching, overhead work.
- Talking and hearing (English).
- Visual skills: distance, peripheral, color vision, depth perception.
- Work environment: normal office with minimal heat, dust, or noise; occasional exposure to wet, humid conditions, fumes, and moderate to loud noise.
- Travel required to all campus locations.
