Manufacturing Engineer | Muskegon, MI

Salary Range: $68,000 - $107,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining manufacturing requirements, developing production plans, and ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing defects, non-conformances, and production issues, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow charts, FMEAs, and control plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Quality, Production) to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement Lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and improve operational performance.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in process optimization, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) for fixture and tooling design.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and statistical process control (SPC).
Bonus Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing simulation software (e.g., Arena, Flex Sim).
  • Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., Python, SQL) for data analysis or automation.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., IoT, digital twins, AI in manufacturing).
