About Hackley Community Care (HCC):
Hackley Community Care is a community health center dedicated to providing medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to the residents of Muskegon County and surrounding areas. We are seeking a Referral Specialist to join our expanding team!

Position Overview

The Referral Specialist plays a crucial customer service and patient-focused role. This position involves direct interaction with patients, insurance representatives, outside vendors, physicians, clinicians, and other medical personnel to ensure a seamless referral process. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, professional environment, delivering high-quality healthcare to our members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient referrals with specialists and hospitals, completing referral requests and transmitting medical records and correspondence securely via mail, fax, or email.
  • Manage approval workflows and follow up with approvers who do not respond within 24 hours.
  • Ensure the accurate and detailed completion of patient referrals.
  • Notify insurance companies of referrals and tests.
  • Provide appropriate patient education regarding the referral process.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with various insurance types
  • Experience in a medical or dental office is a plus
