TERMS:

This position is a 260 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Vacation, personal business days, holidays, and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

SALARY RANGE:

This position is on the nonunion, salary scale Q, $53,.73 per year.

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:

The Person al Computer Technician supports and maintains computer systems for MAISD offices, school buildings and local school districts. She/he installs PC software and hardware; uses Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Patch

MyPC, File Wave, and other computer management systems to deploy, update, and patch hardware/software; diagnoses PC problems; performs preventive PC maintenance; installs and maintains communications and assistive technology equipment and software;and installs cable and connectors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Use the Help Spot ticketing system to work with co-workers to solve problems and assist them in understanding technical issues and solutions.
  • Communicates effectively with MAISD staff, local district representatives, and coworkers.
  • Vets, recommends, purchases, and installs classroom/office technology.
  • Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and hardware components.
  • Installs and troubleshoots communications and assistive technology hardware and software.
  • Performs preventative PC/classroom technology/audio-visual maintenance, including, but not limited to:
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues in computers and peripherals.
  • Perform repairs on faulty components, including motherboards, hard drives, and peripherals.
  • Replace or upgrade hardware as necessary.
  • Deploy, update and patch systems.
  • Ensure all operating systems are up to date.
  • Ensure all equipment is under warranty and supported by the manufacturer.
  • Maintain meeting and conference rooms at assigned building(s).
  • Level one diagnostics and support of printer and printer equipment.
  • Level one support for phone systems.
  • Create and manage user accounts and groups within Google Admin and Active Directory.
  • Manage and maintain group policy objects (GPO) in Active Directory and Google.
  • Participate in periodic technology coordinator’s meetings with local districts.
  • Maintain assigned software and hardware inventory using MAISD’s asset management system, including the maintenance of accurate records of repairs, upgrades, and installations.
  • Leads building-level technology planning teams and meetings.
  • Participates in department-level technology planning teams and meetings.
  • Support local districts as needed.
  • Be supportive, helpful and professional to all district staff and students.
  • Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
  • Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Technology or the building directors/principals.
  • Create and maintain documentation standard operating procedures, and guides.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.
  • Evidence of previous successful experience with the installation and maintenance of personal computer systems on multiple platforms.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • A thorough knowledge of Windows based PC systems;
    Apple/Macintosh systems;
    Google Chrome

    OS systems; word processing and spreadsheet applications; and a variety of communications hardware and software systems.
  • Possess solid oral communication skills to conduct one-on-one training/orientation functions and to provide technical support either on-site or via the telephone.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two years successful experience in personal computer service.
  • Possession of competency authorizations/certifications from PC equipment manufacturers.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience installing, testing, and using a variety of application software.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
