The Layout Inspector - CMM is responsible for conducting high-precision inspections of complex parts and assemblies using CMM equipment and other precision measuring tools. The role ensures that products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements through detailed layout inspections. This position is a U.A.W. represented position on first shift with a starting pay of $33.51 per hour.
Responsibilities- Operate and program CMM machines using software such as Calypso and Zeiss.
- Perform plate layouts with proficiency in CMM programming and usage.
- Inspect using precision gauging techniques (micrometers, calipers, plug gages, etc.).
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and specifications to determine inspection criteria.
- Process inspection paperwork and record results.
- Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality issues.
- Follow safety and quality procedures at all times.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Presently have or immediately be able to qualify for a UAW Journeyman card for CMM Layout.
- Prior CMM programming experience (Calypso, Zeiss).
- 2+ years machining experience.
- Proficient in reading orders, work instructions, and process/blueprint drawings.
- Mechanical skills and proficient mathematical skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and bend as required.
- Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
- 2+ years of assembly experience (preferred).
- Material Handling experience (preferred).
