Quality Lab Technician – Full Time, On‑Site, United States of America, Michigan, Muskegon.

Quality Lab Technician is responsible for the chemical analysis of incoming, in-process, and finished good samples. Technicians verify analysis data into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) – including release of materials and/or products. Calibration and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment are also required.
Primary Responsibilities- Work safely.
- Adhere to all company and regulatory EH&S policies and procedures. Look for safety issues and notify leadership of all safety concerns.
- Adhere to all Company 6‑S initiatives and policies.
- Collect and prepare samples, perform analytical testing, record and report results, and notify appropriate personnel.
- Perform chemical analysis using established procedures and operate analytical instruments for the chemical evaluation of samples from the C‑M melt shop, customers, raw material vendors, and non‑routine samples as assigned.
- Record, report, and maintain records of all functions.
- Maintain daily maintenance, standardization, and adjustment of analytical equipment to ensure proper operation and accuracy; report malfunctions to the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Maintain control specifications of analyzed materials, an adequate analytical standards library, and calibration curves.
- Maintain an adequate reserve of supplies, enter purchase requisitions, and notify the Laboratory Supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Assist other technicians or assume duties of absent Laboratory Technicians as necessary or as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Assist the Laboratory Supervisor in training new Lab Technicians on laboratory duties and analytical procedures.
- Maintain maintenance and cleanliness of the work area, associated laboratory area, and equipment.
- Perform additional routine or experimental work as required or assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Cross‑train and maintain qualification on multiple analytical test methods.
- Provide weekend coverage per established schedule.
- Be available for overtime without prior notice.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required: Two (2) years of laboratory experience.
- Preferred: A two‑year or four‑year degree in Applied Science, or equivalent, with emphasis on chemistry.
- Preferred: Three or more years of laboratory experience.
- Preferred: LECO, XRF and/or Trace Analysis of steel, specialty steel and/or superalloy materials preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools, polishing wheels, etc.
- Basic math and chemistry aptitude.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate technical information.
- Knowledge of the Periodic Table of Elements.
- Precise, detail‑oriented, analytical ability.
- Highly analytical, detail‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to follow written instructions.
- Strong time management and multi‑tasking skills; can organize, prioritize, and balance time to meet established deadlines.
- Strong teamwork oriented mindset.
