Certified Nursing Assistant – Skilled Nursing Facility
Optalis Healthcare – Muskegon
Location: 1061 West Hackley Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441
A CNA’s daily responsibilities are to deliver direct care to patients (bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.) as directed by the RN or LPN in charge. Their role is to maintain patient comfort and safety, follow departmental policies and procedures, and adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control standards. They represent the facility with integrity, respecting the Core Values and mission with regard for each person’s dignity.
CNADuties and Responsibilities (inclusive of but not limited to)
- Providing great patient care.
- Answering patient calls and determining how best to help them.
- Providing physical support for patients or residents during daily activities and personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, exercising).
- Turning and repositioning bedridden patients.
- Ensuring patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
- Obtaining a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities.
- Measuring and recording food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
- Recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
- Examining patients for issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
- Reminding patients to take medications and nutritional supplements.
- Noting observations of patient behavior, including complaints and physical symptoms for nurses.
- Staying up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
- State Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
- Ability to think and work independently and with direction, and communicate with staff members in a fast‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Valid identification.
- Comfortable using a computer.
- Prior experience in long‑term care is preferred.
- Prior experience with infection control is preferred.
