Retail Team Leader - Part Time

Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist store management with the execution of daily operations of a retail store, excluding personnel issues.
Job Functions
  • Assist store management with general operations, including acquisition, display, and sale of merchandise with rotation of goods, pricing, and inventory management.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties of store operations, providing sales reports and accurate retail information on a timely basis.
  • Oversee all personnel, clients, and volunteers assigned to the retail store.
  • Direct and provide training.
  • Enforce store procedures and GIWM policies on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure grounds and building are properly maintained; report need for repairs and recommend replacements as necessary.
  • Enhance security and loss prevention.
  • Ensure safety compliance for all OSHA/MIOSHA requirements and GIWM safety regulations.
  • Perform job functions of a Lead Cashier or Retail Associate as required.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Minimum of one year experience in retail operations required.

Work Conditions
  • Inside work generally 100%, but may include outside work on occasion.
  • Moderate emotional effort; work environment may be hectic with occasional high stress, short deadlines requiring some overtime; weekends and holidays required.
  • Available and on call for emergency situations at stores.
  • Use of personal vehicle may be required to conduct agency business.
  • Some travel required for off‑site meetings and coverage at other stores.

  • Demonstrate accuracy with accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Handle customer complaints in a courteous and responsible manner.
  • Provide positive internal and external customer relations and interact effectively with individuals referred for training.
  • Demonstrate ability to think independently in supervisor’s absence.
  • Meet production goals.
  • Demonstrate quality control and accuracy with sorting and pricing guidelines.
  • Apply Kaizen principles: follow 6S Checklist, procedures, signage, and layout.
  • Maintain a good driving record, valid insurance, and a valid driver license.
  • Maintain a valid powered industrial truck license when required.
