Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Georgia Pacific’s Consumer Products Group is seeking candidates for an Electrical and Instrumentation (E & I) Technician position supporting our Muskogee, OK Tissue, Towel, and Napkin Mill. This role will work closely with supervisors, mentors and coworkers to develop skills in our manufacturing environment and ensure that the electrical and mechanical needs of the mill are met.
Salary: $26.00 – $38.86 per hour, based on experience.
Shift:
12‑hour rotating shift (includes holidays, weekends and overtime as needed).
Sign‑on bonus: $2,500
Site:
Located in Muskogee, OK on the Kerr‑McClellan Navigational Channel, the operation spans approximately 70 acres of manufacturing and warehouse space and employs about 830 people.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to maintain machine performance.
- Inspect machinery to identify issues or reliability/production gaps.
- Lead a zero‑incident culture in Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Help the facility meet or exceed production and quality goals.
- Communicate daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation.
- Perform maintenance related assembly and repair duties.
- Work with AC and DC voltages ranging from 24 V to 13,200 V.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspection routes to improve reliability.
- Troubleshoot AC/DC Drives, PLC Controls, DCS, and machine interfaces.
- Use PLC ladder logic to troubleshoot equipment while online with the PLC; inspect, clean, calibrate, and maintain low and medium voltage distribution equipment.
- Perform electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on subassemblies and parts.
- Read and interpret schematics, PLC ladder logic, single line diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, technical manuals, and instrument loop drawings.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for issue resolution.
- Work with physical demands of lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and elevated/ confined spaces.
- Associate or higher technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, or Electronic Technology.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Electrical/ Electronic/ Controls troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or military environment.
- Experience reading and following electrical and maintenance schematics/blueprints.
- Experience using electrical test devices such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
- Experience with PLC systems, including understanding PLC ladder logic.
- Computer skills with MS Word and Excel.
- Experience with Fanuc or industrial robotics in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in power plant, pulp and paper, converting, palletizing, or automation operations.
- Experience with servos and servo controllers.
- Experience with PLC programming logic and troubleshooting equipment while online.
- Experience with systems integration, advanced PLC troubleshooting, arrays and servo control within PLC logic.
- Experience with HMI programming.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Instrumentation technology.
- Five (5) or more years of manufacturing or industrial experience inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment.
