Job Summary
Assists members and guests of the Muskogee Swim & Fitness Center with proper use of equipment and other related duties that may be assigned.
Responsibilities- Assists recreation personnel in the scheduling, supervision and upkeep of recreation facilities and equipment including the opening or closing of the facility.
- Operates telephone to answer, screen and forward calls and provide information as necessary and required.
- Monitors fitness center to ensure a safe exercise atmosphere and provides instruction to patrons in the proper use of all facility equipment.
- Receives phone calls and visitors and arranges meetings, appointments and schedules.
- Uses knowledge of all facility programs, membership information and sales operations to effectively enroll and renew facility memberships and special programs and class participation.
- Handles customer needs, front‑desk point of sales and membership data entry.
- Interprets recreation programs and department procedures to groups and individuals.
- Cleans and maintains fitness and weight‑room equipment; light cleaning of office and surrounding areas.
- Operates office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and uses computers for spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.
- Sweeps, mops tile and rubber floors.
- Launders cleaning towels used to wipe down equipment.
- Reports equipment maintenance needs and assists in assembling and disassembling recreational equipment.
- Conducts tours of the facility.
- Receives, reports, and deposits any daily receipts.
- Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned.
- Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

Reporting RelationshipsThe fitness attendant reports directly to the Fitness Coordinator and has no supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsTraining and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of related experience. Preference will be given to those with college level training in Recreation, Health Promotion, Sports Management or other fitness‑related areas.
Knowledge, Abilities, and
Skills:
Working knowledge of all fitness systems and proper techniques used in a recreation and fitness facility; knowledge of facility membership software system; ability to effectively deal with customers and the public, enforce operating policies in a courteous manner, establish and maintain effective working relationships, repair non‑working fitness equipment, and keep simple records.
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires punctuality, reasonable attendance, drug screening, and medical exam.
Licenses and CertificationsMust possess a valid Oklahoma Class D driver’s license and CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Working EnvironmentWork performed indoors in a fitness/aquatic facility. Exposed to hot, wet, humid conditions; noise level usually loud. Requires working nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
NoticeThis classification is a “safety sensitive” position; subject to drug and alcohol testing including random testing. Possession of a medical marijuana license does not exempt from testing.
