As an FPGA System Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of our next-generation Quantum Microscopy product line. Working at the intersection of FPGA design, embedded systems, signal processing, and scientific instrumentation, you will design and deploy high-performance realtime systems that power advanced quantum sensing applications. You will take ownership of FPGA-based system architecture and implementation, leveraging RFSoC technology and the PYNQ framework to bridge hardware and software.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with physicists, software engineers, and product developers to transform cutting-edge quantum sensing concepts into robust, customer-ready products. This is a hands-on role with direct impact on the performance, capabilities, and future direction of an innovative new product line.
- Design, implement, and maintain FPGA-based real-time systems for signal generation, acquisition, and processing.
- Translate system requirements into reliable and scalable FPGA solutions.
- Develop and integrate FPGA designs on RFSoC platforms.
- Collaborate with software engineers to create efficient hardware-software interfaces using embedded Linux and Python-based control systems.
- Support the integration of FPGA subsystems into the overall instrument architecture.
- Debug, test, and validate FPGA designs on hardware platforms.
- Optimize system performance, timing, throughput, and reliability.
- Utilize laboratory instrumentation and FPGA debugging tools to troubleshoot and characterize system behaviour.
- Work closely with physicists, software engineers, and product developers to deliver innovative microscopy solutions.
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and technology roadmaps for next-generation products.
- Support projects from concept through deployment, taking ownership of key technical deliverables.
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience developing FPGA-based systems
