Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

What is an Occupancy Verification?
Competent contractors will be tasked with confirming that a property is occupied and accurately reporting its general condition. These assessments are typically completed using a mobile application.

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

• Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
• Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving within the assigned territory.

• Computer an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
