Assistant Store Manager - Myrtle , SC

Spring Step Shoes is looking for an energetic and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Tanger Outlets Myrtle Beach.

About the Role

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the store, drive sales performance, and create an exceptional customer experience.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be actively involved on the sales floor while helping coach the team, maintain visual and operational standards, support scheduling and staffing needs, and ensure the store runs smoothly.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, leads by example, and knows how to turn great customer service into strong sales results.

What You'll Do

• Partner with the Store Manager to achieve store sales goals and overall performance expectations.
• Lead by example on the sales floor and create a welcoming, engaging customer experience.
• Coach and motivate Sales Associates to strengthen product knowledge, selling skills, and customer service.
• Help build a positive, accountable, and results-driven team culture.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of store associates.
• Assist with employee performance and day-to-day team matters in partnership with the Store Manager and Retail leadership.
• Maintain strong product presentation, merchandising, and visual standards in accordance with company direction.
• Support promotions, marketing initiatives, and seasonal product launches.
• Assist with scheduling and staffing to maintain appropriate store coverage and productivity.
• Support inventory management, stock counts, and merchandise organization.
• Follow opening and closing procedures, cash-handling requirements, and daily bank deposit processes.
• Help protect company assets by following established loss-prevention and risk-management procedures.
• Step into store leadership responsibilities when the Store Manager is unavailable.

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of retail experience, preferably in a sales-driven environment.
• Previous supervisory, key-holder, or retail leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Footwear, fashion, apparel, or accessories experience is a plus.
• Strong customer service and selling skills with the ability to motivate others.
• Comfortable coaching employees and providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using POS systems and basic computer applications.
• Dependable, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend as needed, climb an 8-foot ladder, and lift up to 40 pounds.
