Cable Splicer

Our client is looking for a skilled and reliable Cable Splicer to join their field operations team based in East London . This role is responsible for the precise joining and repair of fiber optic and copper telecommunications cables. You will ensure the integrity and connectivity of our network infrastructure by performing high-quality splicing work in various environments, including underground and aerial installations.

This is a hands‑on role for an individual with excellent technical skills and attention to detail, contributing to the reliable delivery of communication services throughout the Eastern Cape region.

• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables according to industry standards.
• Test and certify spliced fiber optic and copper connections using specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or faulty underground and aerial cables.
• Install and manage cable infrastructure, ensuring neatness and adherence to specifications.
• Read and interpret cable location maps, blueprints, and splicing diagrams.
• Operate and maintain splicing equipment, vehicles, and safety gear.
• Adhere strictly to safety regulations and company policies during all field operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certification in telecommunications or fiber optics is a strong advantage.
• Proven experience as a cable splicer , with demonstrated proficiency in fiber optic and copper splicing techniques.
• Experience using OTDR, power meters, and other cable testing equipment.
• Knowledge of different cable types, connectors, and installation methods.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and potentially irregular hours.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
