Job PurposeUnder limited supervision by the County Manager and/or Community Specialist IV, the Detention Case Manager (DCM) will monitor juveniles in pre/post adjudication status who are placed on house arrest in the form of an electronic monitor. The DCM will focus on prevention, reintegration, and empowerment for continued success.
Job Responsibilities- Serves as a DCM for juveniles pre/post adjudication placed under court ordered house arrest (i.e. electronic monitor).
- The DCM will perform daily compliance checks that will be monitored thru the web-based surveillance system and regular in-person contact.
- Conducts pre-release investigations by administering an assessment of the juvenile.
- Identifies the most appropriate alternative to detention.
- Formulate a plan for the juvenile to remain in the community in lieu of detention.
- Develops a comprehensive report for court officials that emphasis family-focused interventions and positive reinforcement.
- Provides status updates and staffing notes to the assigned County Case Manager/Intensive Supervision Officer and/or supervisor.
- Maintains case files to include JJMS data entry in accordance with Agency Policy and Procedures.
- Provides alternatives to prosecution or further detainment by encouraging a least restrictive environment and reducing punitive practices.
- Promotes community safety and restorative justice practices to address repair of harm/compensation to victim and community.
Performs other related duties as requested or required.
StateMinimum Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and related experience.
Additional Requirements- Knowledge of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) and DJJ’s mission.
- Ability to reduce inappropriate/unnecessary detention and lengths of confinement via fact-gathering, interviewing techniques, and assessments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to include but not limited to court report submissions.
- Ability to enhance and work with community collaborative initiatives.
- Ability to facilitate and broker services for juveniles, their families and victims.
- A bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, criminal justice, or related field and experience with electronic monitoring systems or related field such as case management experience.
