Position Summary

The Downtown Economic Development Coordinator will primarily support economic development of downtown. This position will coordinate the organizational administration of the Business Improvement District (BID) and the Downtown Nampa Association (DNA). They will implement strategies for business expansion and redevelopment of downtown. One of the main functions of an employee in this class is to promote, retain, and support businesses within downtown Nampa.

The nature of the work performed requires an employee in this class to establish and maintain effective working relationships with downtown organizations, downtown businesses, departmental and other City employees, Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor and City Council, and the public.

The successful candidate will coordinate and direct activities in the downtown representing the City while partnering and listening to the governing board direction the Downtown Nampa Association in downtown Nampa. They are also able to set timelines and work to always meet project deadlines. The work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Director of Economic Development with leeway granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.

This position also reports to the Downtown Nampa Association boards and supports organizational planning, budget development, and administration of downtown board. The position will be responsible for the quarterly billings for the Business Improvement District. Additionally, this position will also be a critical support role to the execution of the downtown events sponsored by the DNA and the City functions as a support the Downtown Event Coordinator position.

Functions
  • Prepare for DNA Board of Director meetings by sending out agendas, minutes, and treasurer reports.
  • Provide support the DNA bookkeeper to prepare monthly financials and file annual taxes.
  • Work with the Idaho Department of Commerce and other designated cities on the implementing the Main Street program and becoming accredited Main Street city.
  • Prepare necessary reports to Department of Commerce and the National Main Street Center.
  • Oversee attainment, measurement and communication of annual goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with downtown business owners, with the ability to anticipate future needs and plans.
  • Manage and complete the quarterly billings of the Business Improvement District.
  • Provide support to the Downtown Events Manager for downtown events management and day of tasks for community-wide focused events such as Third Thursdays, Christmas tree lighting, and Downtown Trick or Treat and all DNA sponsored events.
  • Work with the DNA, and Event Coordinator to develop an annual events calendar in conjunction with City of Nampa.
  • Implement strategies for business expansion and redevelopment of downtown.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of the Downtown Implementation Plan.
