Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science
Position
Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) presents a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science position beginning fall 2026 in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The role is housed in the Thomas Health & Science Building and the Wiley Learning Center.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field. ABDs in a Ph.D. program and candidates with an MS plus significant professional experience are also considered.
- Experience teaching graduate and/or undergraduate students with a commitment to teaching in a Christian liberal arts setting.
- An active research agenda and normal institutional service are desired and necessary for promotion and tenure.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- All candidates must identify as Christians (preferably in the;br>
Wesleyan tradition) and agree with NNU’s mission, values, and lifestyle. Willingness to advance the university’s spiritual goals is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional experience in software development, project management, data science/AI, cybersecurity, or another CS/IT field.
Essential Duties
- Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses across the Computer Science curriculum; teaching in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence is desired.
- Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
- Mentor senior and master students’ capstone projects.
- Contribute to curriculum review, development, and assessment within the Mathematics and Computer Science Departments.
- Establish and maintain an active program of research and scholarship.
- Include graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
- Participate in university faculty governance.
- Actively engage in the life of the department and the university.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
