• Produce and maintain the department’s technical and financial performance.
• Direct adjustments of the manufacturing process to meet standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Maintain all GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with workplace and government standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc.).
• Produce reports on volume, yields, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Production planners to plan weekly schedules.
• Build weekly employee schedules, manage vacations for hourly and supervisory staff, and coordinate staffing needs.
• Participate in budget and capital expenditure processes and provide data as needed.
• Control the department supply budget and may collaborate with outside vendors.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and lead weekly maintenance/production meetings.
• Work with other department managers to ensure total plant success.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience:
  
  5 years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry or a science-related field preferred.
• Five-plus years of supervisory experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in cheese production and/or the food industry; experience in food production, packaging, warehouse, or distribution preferred.

• OSHA, Food Safety, FDA, and USDA knowledge.
• Knowledge of ISO and certifications within the food industry.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).

• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage people effectively.
