Job SummaryThe Industrial Performance Engineer works cross‑functionally to enhance plant operational and financial performance by developing and rolling out plant‑wide Continuous Improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include leading project teams, leading task‑force initiatives, planning Kaizen events, and coaching/mentoring others within the organization to apply principles and methodologies of Continuous Improvement.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks- Ensure the development, implementation and sustainability of industrial standards and plant processes as assigned by the Industrial Performance Manager.
- Areas of influence: industrial procedures, training and qualification standards, maintenance and operational excellence standards (Root Cause Analysis, 6S, Daily Accountability, VPA, Lean Manufacturing principles) and Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality.
- Seek to identify best practices from other internal plants and external plants that can be integrated into our plant.
- Ensure that improvements and lessons learned are shared with the rest of the organization to enhance standardization and increase performance company‑wide.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects or task forces, and deliver measurable, sustainable results.
- Develop plant employees relative to root cause analysis, continuous improvement principles and methodologies, 5S, etc. through developing and delivering training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Use DMAIC methodology: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control the results.
The Industrial Performance Engineer will have a direct role in influencing the improvement of six key performance indicators:
Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation, and Environmental.
- B.S. degree in a technical field or at least five years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Five or more years of manufacturing experience with at least two years participating or leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Six Sigma Green Belt (or related certification) preferred.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred.
- Prior food manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Completed successful DMAIC/Lean projects in production, quality, or supply chain.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead through influence.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to interpret information quickly and effectively to reach sound conclusions.
- Ability to challenge the status quo professionally.
- A passion for being on the plant floor and interacting with employees at all levels.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Competency with data collection and analysis and good lab notebook practices.
- Work a minimum of eight hours per day.
- Lift up to forty pounds.
- Travel via airplane within the US and internationally.
