Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3 years of L&D experience and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.

• Active RN license ( compact) required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE
• Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required
• Mother Baby experience required, 1 year preferred
• Must have experience attending deliveries, completing 1 hour of newborn care, triage, circulating C-sections, and providing postpartum couplet care
• Experience with magnesium protocol required
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

• Acute care setting on a 14-bed Labor & Delivery unit with patients staying in the same room throughout their stay
• Unit includes 2 OR suites for C-sections with RNs circulating and recovering patients, and 4 triage beds staffed by travelers
• Unit averages 90 births per month and 1,200 per year
• Follows AWHONN staffing standards: 1:1 labor ratio (or pairing 2 cervical ripening patients), 1:3 postpartum couplet care, and 1:3 triage
• Common patient population includes 32+ week gestation, HTN on magnesium, BAC, TOLAC, some gestational diabetes, and antepartum patients
• Does not accept placenta previa or placenta accreta cases
• RNs titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and occasionally Insulin
• OB hospitalist and Neonatal NP in house 24/7, along with in-house anesthesia
• EPIC EMR used for charting, with Centricity for EFM
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, with weekends as needed based on unit needs
• No call or standby requirements
• Floats to all St. Luke's Treasure Valley sites (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) within primary skill set (L&D/Mother Baby) or as a sitter, full shifts only with advance notice
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests accommodated, and no more than 6 consecutive shifts allowed
• Attend deliveries, provide newborn stabilization and assessment within the first 2 hours, and serve as a second sign-off on medications when functioning as resource nurse
• Unit staffed with 1 CST per shift and 1 CNA per shift, though CNA coverage may shift to HUC duties as needed
• Admin supervisor present on every shift; charge RNs do not take patient assignments
• 4 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, covering C-section, labor, and postpartum areas
• Compliance and EPIC Curio training assignments must be completed prior to start
• Hospital-issued scrubs required, to be changed into and out of at the beginning and end of each shift
• No fingernail lacquer, acrylic, or gel nails allowed due to NICU being embedded within 7 of the L&D rooms
• Travel duos will need 2 separate vehicles, as assignments or floating may occur at different sites
• No set holiday requirement for travel RNs, though coverage may be needed based on unit demand during the contract
• Travelers have historically extended and returned to this unit
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must be separated from employment for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
