Installation Technician
Overview
The Installation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the installation process in a retail floor covering store. This includes scheduling installation jobs, managing staff and subcontractors, handling customer claims, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a schedule for installation jobs.
- Ensure all installation staff comply with company policy and dress code.
- Establish a list of qualified subcontractors and submit required paperwork.
- Meet regularly with subcontractors to review procedures and performance.
- Review customer claims and supervise resolution with installers and/or manufacturers.
- Participate in regular staff meetings with other store department heads.
- Promote professional customer relations by ensuring the installation staff interacts professionally.
- Ensure safety procedures and practices are followed by all installation staff.
- Installations are accurately scheduled and customers are communicated with in a professional manner.
- Staff are supervised to perform quickly and efficiently with minimal idle time.
- Interaction with support staff and salespeople ensures high store efficiency.
- Customer complaints are handled professionally.
- A list of qualified subcontractors is maintained and installers are properly assigned.
- Installation staff receive regular performance reviews.
- Continuous improvement leads to higher customer satisfaction with the installation process.
- Analytical and observational skills to oversee installation functions.
- Basic computer skills for reviewing orders and verifying inventory.
- Effective communication and coordination with installation personnel.
- Interface with installers and all store personnel.
- Knowledge of floor‑covering products and installation processes.
- Customer communication by phone and in person.
- Good organizational and scheduling skills.
- With Branch Manager approval, hire, fire, evaluate, and discipline personnel.
- Establish goals and procedures for installation staff with the Branch Manager.
- Take reasonable actions consistent with company policy to carry out responsibilities.
- High‑volume retail floor covering facility with an included warehouse.
- Stand, walk, sit, squat, bend, climb, reach, and turn as required.
- Perform computer data entry, answer phones, and communicate with staff, customers, installers, and vendors.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with dress code policy.
Full‑time. Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
TravelLocal travel expected.
Education and ExperienceMinimum three (3) years of installation or equivalent experience.
PreferredEducation and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent; installation supervision experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications- Computer skills for industry‑specific software (orders, reports).
- Effective management of a diverse employee group.
- In‑depth knowledge of floor covering products and installation.
- Proficiency in typing, data entry, and office equipment.
- Professional conduct with all store customers, including retail, commercial, and builders.
