The role:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented construction Estimator/Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As a construction Estimator/Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for analyzing construction blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our projects are well-planned, financially feasible, and competitive in the market.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project Evaluation: Review and analyze project plans, requirements, and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimates.
  • Cost Estimation and Quantity Take-off: Prepare accurate and detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other expenses based on project plans and specifications.
  • Vendor/Subcontractor Relations: Solicit and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing project budgets and provide input on cost management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare bid documents and submission packages, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and quantify cost factors, such as materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements, and assess their impact on project costs.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction personnel to recommend alternatives or value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability without sacrificing quality or performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and other relevant documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to construction estimating and cost management.
  • Coordination: Coordinate project plans and schedules to ensure they align with the overall project goals.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in estimating, preferably in a construction management or general contracting environment.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in construction management coordination.
  • Experience in residential multifamily and concrete high-rise towers.
  • Familiarity with municipal application processes is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Bluebeam Takeoff software.
  • Certification (e.g., Certified Construction Estimator, Gold Seal) is an asset.
  • Technologist or a Bachelors Degree in construction management is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning employee/contractor files.
  • An ideal candidate will be comfortable working efficiently in fast paced environments, remain calm under pressure, and will be able to make quick, well-informed decisions as required.
