Civil Skilled Labourer

Looking for Civil Construction Laborer in Victoria on Vancouver Island and surrounding area.

• Perform general labor duties on civil construction sites including digging, grading, raking, and shoveling.
• Assist with installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm).
• Support pipe crews with alignment, bedding, and back filling.
• Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment.
• Operate small tools and equipment (plate tampers, cut‑off saws, jackhammers, etc.).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow directions from supervisors, foremen, and lead hands.
• Assist with traffic control and site safety setup as required.
• Participate in daily toolbox talks and adhere to all company safety policies.

• Previous experience in civil construction or general labor (preferred but not required).
• Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, and working in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (asset).
• Basic understanding of construction safety practices.

• CSTS (Construction Safety Training System)
• WHMIS 2015
• Confined Space Entry
• Ground Disturbance Level II
• First Aid (Level 1 or higher)

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Physically demanding environment (lifting, bending, standing for long periods).
• Early start times, overtime, and weekend work may be required.
• Travel to different project sites may be necessary.

This is a Unionized position with Copcan – CSWU Craft Laborers. It includes Union wages, extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, additional training through the Training Plan, and a union wage range of $21.66–$37.63 per hour plus 12% vacation/statutory holiday pay.
