Temporary General Internal Medicine Opportunity – NRGH
We are currently recruiting temporary General Internal Medicine (GIM) physicians to support inpatient care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). This is a short-term opportunity designed to stabilize and sustain our Acute Medical Service, while also offering physicians flexibility and opportunity to contribute to an expanding program.
Position Overview
We are seeking physicians who can commit to two weeks of service every two months, over a six-month period. Some flexibility is available in scheduling, and we welcome discussions around alternate arrangements.
Each two-week block will include:
Week 1 (8 am - 5 pm, Monday to Sunday): includes Internal Medicine on-call duties on Acute Medical Service (AMS), providing consultative expertise, completing admission orders, and some rounding. There may also be additional fly-in night call coverage depending on need up to four nights per month. The AMS is a team-based care model that manages newly referred medical patients (primarily in the Emergency Department) until a definitive disposition plan can be established.
Compensation
- Compensation is currently arranged on a contractual basis with hourly rates for both the AMS and the CMCU.
- The Acute Medical Service will be funded at enhanced rates to support this intensive model of care.
- Travel and accommodation funded via ETSP including:
Honorarium for travel time, meal allowance while traveling, coverage for personal or economy commercial transportation to and from the coastal community and accommodation provided during the service period
