Regent Christian Online Academy (RCOA), a key division of the Regent Christian Academy Society (RCAS), is seeking a dedicated Education Assistant to support a student with a mid-year ASD diagnosis. This role involves providing specialized support within a Nanaimo-based community class, a Partners in Education class, and flexible in-home sessions. We focus on a Christ-centered environment where students grow in character and purpose, and we are looking for a candidate to assist in bringing this mission to life for our home-learning families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tailored educational assistance to a student with an ASD across community and home settings.
- Implement and support behavior support plans as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Inclusive Education department to plan and execute learning supports.
- Participate in Nanaimo-based community class on Mondays (9:30 am – 2:30 pm) and Partners in Education class on Thursdays (9:00 am – 3:00 pm).
- Maintain consistent communication with home-learning families and school staff.

- Completed Education Assistant (EA) or preferably Special Education Assistant (SEA) certificate program.
- Demonstrated experience or training in supporting students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and implementing behavior support plans.
- BC secondary school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Committed Christian, regular attendee at a Bible-believing church, capable of providing a pastoral reference.
- Full agreement and alignment with the RCOA Statement of Faith and mission.
- Valid Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) – mandatory condition of employment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with home‑learning families.
- Ability to work independently in both community classroom and in‑home settings.
- Valid First Aid certificate (often required by school districts/societies).
