Principal, Middle/Senior School and Director of Student Engagement

Compensation:
Salary Range $59,400 - $112,275 based on experience/BEd or Masters education

Position Overview

Aspen grove School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Math and French teacher to join our growing Middle School team (Grades 6–7). Due to significant enrollment growth, we are expanding our faculty and looking for versatile educators to support our vibrant learning community.

The ideal candidate will bring energy, curiosity, and a strong foundation in Math and French education. They will demonstrate a commitment to helping students develop critical thinking skills, global awareness, and a deep understanding of second language acquisition and mathematical concepts through engaging, inquiry‑based learning. At Aspen grove, we educate our students inside and outside of the classroom, and the ideal candidate will engage students in a vibrant co‑curricular program as well as through our advisory classroom.

Our Middle School serves as a vital bridge between the Junior and Senior Schools, specifically designed to support students as they transition from an elementary framework to a high school model. Collaboration is central to this role; the ideal candidate will work closely and seamlessly with our well‑established, tight‑knit Middle School teaching team.

We are looking for an educator who is enthusiastic about interdisciplinary learning, has experience teaching both IB MYP (ideally) and BC curriculum, and is committed to fostering a classroom environment that encourages thoughtful discussion and reflection. The successful candidate should be collaborative, innovative, and eager to contribute to school life beyond the classroom.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Upholding the Professional Standards for BC Educators
  • Planning, delivering, assessing, and reporting on courses and programs aligned with approved BC and/or school curriculum as directed by the Principal
  • Collaborating with colleagues to support student learning and curricular alignment
  • Communicating proactively and clearly with parents and guardians
  • Accommodating the inclusive education needs of students, including implementing behaviour plans and Individual Education Plans
  • Participating in Middle School life activities, including supporting Middle School Athletic events
  • Creating club opportunities for students
  • Performing other duties as required
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Familiarity with IB MYP courses
  • Familiarity with BC Curriculum in Grades 6 to 7
  • Experience, education or training in inquiry‑based learning pedagogies and universal design for learning strategies
  • Superior skills in self‑awareness, self‑management and self‑advocacy
  • Fluent communication skills in English, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Experience and Qualifications
  • Canadian residency and the legal entitlement to work in Canada
  • A valid BC teaching certificate or Independent School Certification qualifying criteria
  • International Baccalaureate MYP qualifications would be an asset.
