Position: Instructor for Geography and GIS at VIU
Vancouver Island University seeks a Geography and GIS Instructor for Fall 2026 to deliver impactful education in Environmental Geography and Geographic Information Systems. This role emphasizes student engagement and academic excellence.

You’ll teach face-to-face courses, including GEOG 100, GEOG 101, and GEOG 328, interacting directly with students and enhancing their learning experience. Additionally, involvement in departmental activities and committees is essential for fostering a collaborative academic atmosphere. A strong commitment to innovative teaching practices is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead undergraduate courses in Physical Geography and GIS

• Create assessments and evaluate student progress

• Offer student support during office hours

• Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees

• Conduct scholarly activities in your field

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Geography, Environmental Studies, or related field

• Proven teaching experience in relevant subjects

• Commitment to student success and engagement

• Evidence of scholarly activity

• Preference for candidates with a doctoral degree (or ABD)
