About The Opportunity
J.E. Anderson & Associates (JEA) is looking for a full-time BC Land Surveyor based in or near Nanaimo, BC or Parksville, BC to work out of our Nanaimo or Parksville offices .
Reporting to JEA's partners and management team, this role is responsible for managing survey projects from proposal through completion. Projects include strata, subdivision, and reference plans, as well as topographic and construction surveys.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Completing surveys under the Land Title Act, Strata Property Act, and Land Act
Performing plan reviews, quality control, drafting, and calculations
Preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules
Providing clients with advice and consultation regarding survey and land development projects
Coordinating and directing field crews and technical staff
Collaborating on multidisciplinary projects alongside JEA’s civil engineering department
Liaising with professionals, contractors, clients, and members of the public
Working safely and in accordance with JEA's defined safety protocols
About You
To be considered for this role, you must be a commissioned BC Land Surveyor in good standing with the Association of BC Land Surveyors (ABCLS) , and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
Additionally, the following skills, attributes and experience are highly valued:
Proven experience managing survey projects from start to finish
Proficiency with drafting software such as Micro Suvery, Civil3D or other CAD based programs
Experience using Leica Infinity or similar data management software
Strong understanding of survey principles, standards, and regulatory requirements
Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, fellow employees, and members of the public
Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
A Canadian Land Surveyor commission or experience with Canada Lands Surveys is considered an asset, but not required
As our ideal candidate, you are confident in your ability to deliver survey projects from proposal through completion, with support from partners and senior staff as needed. You are dependable, self‑motivated, and equally comfortable working independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
About Compensation & Benefits
Compensation includes a competitive starting wage of $50 to $65 per hour commensurate with experience (approximately $104,000 to $135,000 per year based on a 40-hour work week), with overtime pay as projects and workload require.
