As a Material Handling Engineer, you will contribute technical leadership to impactful multidisciplinary projects that support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mining, metals and industrial infrastructure systems. You’ll guide design, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that help communities and industries thrive.
This position will be located in one of our British Columbia offices.
- Design and develop material handling systems including conveyors, cranes, hoists, automated storage, and bulk material systems.
- Translate operational requirements into engineered solutions, layouts, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate material handling solutions into broader facility and infrastructure designs.
- Support project delivery through calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices to deliver compliant, high‑quality solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers, supporting team growth and capability development.
- Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
- University Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- At least 15+ years of experience in the design and engineering of material handling systems in mining and heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of conveyors, lifting equipment, automated systems, or bulk material handling.
- Hold (or be eligible for) a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
- Proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration.
- Comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed and adherence to all safety requirements.
- Working proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools and a continuous drive to expand technical toolkit.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800
MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
