Join Island Health as an Indigenous Liaison Nurse to empower Indigenous communities through professional medical care.
This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in a casual, multi-site capacity.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Health, you will plan and implement nursing care tailored for Indigenous clients with varied health needs.
Your role includes conducting assessments, managing cases, and providing culturally sensitive health teaching. Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is vital, as you ensure that clients maintain self-care and independence. Note that travel to various locations may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize and evaluate nursing care for Indigenous clients
• Perform health assessments and consult with healthcare teams
• Teach clients about health and wellness
• Facilitate referrals and liaising tasks
• Monitor adherence to nursing policies and standards
Requirements:
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives
• BC Driver's License for transportation
• Community health knowledge specific to Indigenous clients
• Over two years’ experience within Indigenous communities
• Knowledge of culturally safe healthcare practices
