Position: Street Outreach Nurse at Island Health
Become a Street Outreach Nurse with Island Health in Ladysmith, BC.

Your role focuses on harm reduction and communicable disease prevention to support vulnerable populations in need.

This full-time nursing position is integral to the community outreach program, requiring a minimum of five years nursing experience, including public health. The nurse will work closely with those exposed to HIV, viral hepatitis, TB, and STIs while addressing mental health challenges, all under BC College of Nurses standards. Education and hands-on support are also important facets of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical support for communicable disease prevention

• Educate clients on harm reduction practices

• Conduct testing and counseling for STIs, HIV, and TB

• Engage with individuals facing addiction and mental health issues

• Work across multiple sites as needed

Requirements:

• Graduation from a recognized nursing program

• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, 2 in public health

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives

• Valid BC driver’s license

• Knowledge of mental health and harm reduction principles
