Registered Veterinary Technologist

ORCA – Orthopedic & Referral Centre for Animals is seeking several RVTs to join our team at our new, privately owned surgical centre in Nanaimo, BC where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the exciting world of surgery. If you are enthusiastic and eager to learn, we want to hear from you.

• Minimum one year of clinical experience with anesthesia with a strong understanding of pharmaceuticals, anatomy, and physiology.
• Must be a member in good standing with the BCVTA.
• Must have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Willingness to rotate through overnight shifts shared with other RVTs to provide patient care.

• We have digital X‑ray and a CT scanner
• We practice advanced multimodal anesthesia e.g. nerve stimulators and regional blocks are commonplace
• We have a slew of syringe pumps and IV pumps that actually work and are regularly calibrated!
• We have two beautiful, large operating rooms stacked with all the tools to keep your patients safe and secure under anesthesia like Drager anesthesia machines, iso/sevoflurane, patient warmers (Bair Hugger and Hot Dogg) and advanced patient monitors equipped with CO2, gas analyser, ECG, SP02, IBP and NIBP
• We perform hands‑free x‑rays on all patients
• We are a digital practice, with ezyvet EMR and Vetradar patient treatment chart

We offer a competitive starting wage of $32 - $38+/hour based on experience, and set schedules on an averaging agreement, meaning a maximum of 4 day work weeks.
