Armour Security & Protection Services is hiring a licensed Security Guard for a retail location in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
This is a part-time position with a consistent weekly schedule. The successful candidate must currently live in Nanaimo, hold a valid British Columbia Security Worker Licence, and be available for all scheduled shifts.
Schedule
Thursday: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Friday: 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Saturday: 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Sunday: 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Total: 21 hours per week
Pay
$20.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence
- Conduct regular patrols of the retail location
- Monitor for theft, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and unauthorized access
- Assist store staff and customers when required
- Respond to incidents in a calm and professional manner
- Complete clear and accurate incident reports
- Follow all site procedures and Armour Security policies
- Contact management, emergency services, or police when required
Requirements
- Valid British Columbia Security Worker Licence
- Must currently live in Nanaimo
- Must be available for the full weekly schedule
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Previous retail security experience is an asset
Responsibilities:
Generate new business through cold calls, warm leads, emails, and networking Make 80+ calls per day and book at least 8 meetings per week with prospects Close sales and ensure successful onboarding of new clients Oversee post-sale operations including hiring, training, and scheduling guards Ensure staff coverage, monitor attendance, and handle emergency staffing requests Collaborate with the Regional Manager and National Director on growth strategies Manage client invoicing and follow up on payments Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions Track client needs and tailor security service solutions accordingly
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of sales experience or a strong desire to build a career in sales Strong communication and negotiation skills Ability to work independently and within a team Detail-oriented, organized, and driven to meet targets Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM tools Security industry experience is an asset but not required Must be able to travel locally to meet clients in person.
