Child & Youth Care Worker (CYCW)

In this role, you aren’t just a staff member; you are a coach, an advocate, and a consistent source of support for those navigating behavioral and social hurdles.

What’s in it for you?
  • Wage: $23.00 per hour
  • Hours:

    Full-Time, 35 hours per week.
  • Schedule:

    Monday – Friday (Daytime and evening shifts to meet client needs).

    Nanaimo, BC.

What You’ll Do
  • Empower & Coach:
    Provide 1-to-1 and small group support to children, youth, and adults, focusing on social skills and behavioral stabilization.
  • Navigate & Advocate:
    Connect families to vital community resources and act as a fierce advocate for their best interests.
  • Plan & Implement:
    Design evidence-based goal plans tailored to each client’s unique strengths and needs.
  • Support in Crisis:
    Recognize and de-escalate crisis situations with empathy and professional strategy.
  • Collaborate:
    Work closely with the Integrated Child, Youth, and Family Services team to ensure "person-centered" care.
What You Bring
  • Education:

    A degree in Social/Human Services (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).
  • Certifications:

    Valid First Aid/CPR (CCFL approved) and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • The Essentials:
    You have a safe, reliable vehicle and are comfortable transporting clients. You thrive in fast-paced environments and can work independently when the pressure is on.
  • Experience:

    At least 1 year in a similar social services environment; experience with crisis intervention is a major asset.
