Youth Advocate and Care Specialist

Use your passion for empowering youth as a Youth Advocate with BGC Central Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, BC. This full-time Child and Youth Care Worker role requires advocacy, coaching, and crisis support skills across flexible day and evening shifts.

This position involves empowering youth and families through tailored support and resource navigation. You’ll play a crucial role in creating stability through evidence-based plans while working in a supportive, trauma-informed environment. Your experience in social services and crisis intervention will be valuable for success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children and youth through individualized coaching

• Connect families to essential community resources

• Develop personalized goal-setting plans for clients

• Recognize and effectively manage crisis situations

• Partner with Integrated Child, Youth, and Family Services team

Requirements:

• Degree in Social/Human Services or equivalent experience

• Certification in First Aid/CPR and clean driving record

• Reliable vehicle for client transportation

• Minimum of 1 year in a social services role

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, independent environments
