Are you interested in truck-mounted equipment parts and eventually becoming a Parts Advisor and or getting your parts apprenticeship? If you have an interest in heavy equipment or commercial truck equipment parts, and have experience with shipping/receiving, and organizing stock, then this is the perfect job for you! We are looking for a Parts Helper for our Nanaimo location.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain an orderly department with parts stored in their proper locations for easy access
- Ensure that stock levels are monitored to guarantee the inventory to be just‑in‑time and consistent with the requirements of the Rail Service and Installation Departments
- Accountable for the shipping and receiving of the orders, while maintaining a record for all purchases made
- Assist in acting as Falcon’s first‑line customer relations representative for all parts needs
- Provide administrative and maintenance duties for the branch as required
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Prior experience in a heavy equipment environment
- Heavy equipment parts knowledge a definite asset
- Forklift certification an asset
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Basic mathematical skills
- Knowledge of filling out waybills and bills of landing and international shipments
- Ability to weigh and measure items
- Working knowledge of safe lifting methods
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Computer literacy, including working skills of MS Office including e‑mail
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Must have a valid driver’s license
