Position
Environmental Educator – Nantucket Conservation Foundation.
Pay Range$60,000.00/yr – $65,000.00/yr (salary based on skills and experience). This range is provided by Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience—talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Job OverviewThe Environmental Educator contributes to the implementation of in‑person programs and events and the development of educational resources that connect the community to Nantucket’s unique ecosystems. This position reports to the Education Coordinator/Ecologist and works closely with them to deliver high‑quality programs and meaningful community engagement.
Specific Responsibilities- Participate in the leadership and logistics of educational programs, workshops, and excursions.
- Develop and expand educational program opportunities for multiple age groups.
- Contribute multimedia posts across NCF’s social media channels.
- Write articles for digital and print communications.
- Represent NCF at community events, activities, commissions, and initiatives.
- Assist in developing written and digital education materials for multiple age groups.
- Assist in developing educational signage and displays for use on NCF properties.
- Capture and catalog photos of staff, programs, properties, organisms, and events.
- Assist in improving and troubleshooting the NCF Website, ACKTrails App, and ARCGIS Online Databases.
- Assist in projects of the Ecological Research, Stewardship, & Restoration Department to enhance the public’s understanding of our work.
- Assist the Marketing & Development Department during community events and outreach campaigns.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education, Conservation, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in environmental education or related ecology work.
- Comfortable with public speaking and leading walking tours.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
- Experience with volunteer coordination and/or supervisory experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Adobe Suite.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Able to work independently to accomplish assigned goals.
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively with other team members to accomplish collective goals.
