The Pharmacist ensures the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications by overseeing dispensing, compounding, and clinical support services. This role collaborates with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes, maintains compliance with regulatory standards, and provides guidance to pharmacy staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and safety.
  • ispense medications and counsel patients on proper usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile preparations in accordance with USP guidelines.
  • Monitor patient medication therapies, identify potential drug interactions, and recommend adjustments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care plans.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances and comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance, medication safety initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Provide drug information and education to healthcare staff and patients.
  • Support emergency response by preparing and dispensing medications for code carts and critical care needs.
  • Ensure proper storage, security, and inventory management of medications.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

    D.) degree or equivalent.
  • Current pharmacist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or relevant state).
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy settings.
  • Familiarity with automated dispensing systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Residency training (PGY1 or PGY2) in pharmacy practice or specialty area.
Certifications (if any)
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) or other specialty certification (preferred).
