Director of Sales – Consulting Engagement (1099)
We are seeking a senior-level Director of Sales (Consultant) to lead sales strategy and execution for a branded luxury resort with residences in the Napa Valley region
. This is a project-based independent consulting engagement (1099) focused on driving performance across key phases of launch, repositioning, and sell-through.
This role is suited for an experienced luxury sales leader who operates as a consultant and brings strategic rigor, execution discipline, and strong stakeholder leadership.
Role OverviewAs Director of Sales (Consultant), you will serve as the primary sales leader for the project, partnering closely with ownership, advisory teams, marketing partners and on-site sales resources. You will own sales strategy, guide execution, and deliver clear performance reporting and recommendations throughout the engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead overall sales strategy and performance for the project, from launch through defined milestones
- Translate pricing, inventory, and absorption goals into actionable sales plans
- Advise on pricing strategy, inventory releases, pacing, and incentive programming
- Guide broker engagement, buyer targeting, and sales execution
- Collaborate with marketing teams to align brand narrative, positioning, and activations with sales objectives
- Oversee the sales process from offer strategy through contract execution and close, in coordination with legal and escrow partners
- Establish KPIs, forecasting models, and reporting cadence for ownership and stakeholders
- Serve as senior escalation point for complex transactions, buyer issues, or broker challenges
- Structure: Project-based, scope- and milestone-driven
- Time Commitment: Flexible, based on project phase
- Location: Napa Valley region with some travel as needed
Compensation will be structured as a monthly consulting retainer
, with additional performance-based commission and/or override opportunities tied to agreed-upon sales outcomes. Final terms will be established during scoping and contracting.
- Senior sales leadership experience in luxury hospitality, branded residences, or high-end residential real estate
- Proven success leading or advising sales programs through launch or sell-through
- Strong strategic, analytical, and execution capabilities
- Comfortable operating independently as a consultant with accountability for outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
