Junior/Assistant Engineer – Public Works

County of Napa invites applications for two Junior/Assistant Engineer positions, one in Construction Project Management and one in Development Engineering.

These roles support planning, design, construction, and operations of public works projects, directly impacting safety, mobility, and quality of life for Napa residents.

• Assist with scheduling, budget tracking, contractor oversight, on‑site inspections, and contract management to support timely, cost‑effective, and compliant project delivery.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide engineering review and processing of private development applications, plan check, coordination of infrastructure construction activities, Stormwater Program administration, and floodplain management.

Required:

Engineering or civil engineering degree;
Experience with construction project management or development engineering;
Knowledge of utility engineering, GIS, and AutoCAD;
Valid Engineer‑in‑Training certificate not required.

Preferred:
Strong technical, professional, and technology skills;
Project management and decision‑making ability;
Excellent communication and teamwork.
