OverviewTechnical leader responsible for planning the raised floor data center environment, including rack designs, hardware locations, power, cooling, and key data center operational processes. This includes developing new processes, documenting standard operating procedures, and managing operating level agreements. Additional duties include updating rack elevations, providing efficiency metrics to improve availability, and advanced support for raised floor incident resolution.
Responsibilities- Participate in the design and implementation of key data center operational processes to support the consistent implementation of a framework within the organization.
- Document standard operating processes, operational level agreements, and detailed procedures; identify and implement process improvements, including automation, within Data Center operations.
- Provide metrics management for financial and analytical reporting to improve productivity and availability.
- Provide advanced level support for raised floor incident resolution (e.g., physical equipment and power distribution monitoring).
- Ensure that employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors accessing the national data centers and associated IT areas are accounted for, trained, and authorized as appropriate.
- Support the effective utilization of raised floor capacity; provide accurate and complete Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) records; drive raised floor efficiency programs to include cost reduction, space utilization, and power/HVAC improvements.
- Plan, allocate, and track data center raised floor space; provide long-term planning for the physical layout of infrastructure; provide strategic input into new solutions regarding capacity and location of equipment.
- Maintain the accuracy and documentation of the raised floor, hardware environments, and electrical distribution in raised floor management tools.
- Provide guidance on meeting key performance indicators (e.g., performance, availability, capacity) and contribute to a knowledge repository for highly complex technical support.
- Mentor junior staff and serve as an escalation point; guide documentation development and troubleshooting efforts in coordination with lower level support.
- Minimum five (5) years experience supporting a large-scale computing environment.
- Minimum two (2) years in a leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care, or related field and minimum eight (8) years IT experience in a support or operations environment. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
