Location: Onsite - Napa, California

Hourly Rate: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour (Based on Experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time, 7AM - 4 PM Monday-Friday

Join our Team as a Lang Operator!

General

Position Summary:

The Lang Machine Operator is responsible for the in-house production of punches, metal plates, and dies for the printing department, managing both the operational side of the Lang machine and the CNC programming required to ensure precision and quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive and analyze technical drawings (printing layouts, vector files).
  • Import and prepare files in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Lergo Cad), creating specific layers for each machining process.
  • Define tools and engraving strategies, set parameters for engraving, drilling, and cutting.
  • Convert designs into CNC programs (ISO/G-code) using software such as Relief Design, run simulations, and verify results.
  • Set up the Lang machine: position work pieces, secure fixtures, check tools, and set zero points.
  • Perform machining operations: grinding, engraving, drilling, and cutting.
  • Conduct quality checks: dimensional verification using instruments (calipers, micrometers).
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and manage tools.
  • Archive files and codes for internal traceability.
  • Collaborate with the design department to optimize time and reduce waste.
Education and/or

Experience:
  • Technical diploma (mechanics, automation) or professional qualification is preferred.
  • Previous experience with CNC machines or tooling setup is a plus.
  • Basic technical English (for software and documentation).
  • Experience in the printing or packaging industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with embossing and counter-die processes.
Specific Skills, Competencies, and

Qualifications:
  • CNC programming: knowledge of G-code, ISO standards, and CAD/CAM software.
  • Technical drawing: ability to read and interpret complex schematics.
  • Material knowledge: brass, copper, aluminum, magnetic plates.
  • Precision and problem-solving: attention to detail and ability to address anomalies.
  • Use of measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, bore gauges.
  • Teamwork and compliance with safety procedures.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift/Carry – 5% of shift
  • Sit – 80% of shift
  • Walk – 15% of shift
  • Must have the ability to distinguish and differentiate between colors for printing labels.

This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods (up to 80% of the shift) and perform computer work.
