AG&E is an international structural engineering firm headquartered in Dallas, TX. Founded in 2004, AG&E has 8 offices across the U.S. and international offices in India and Brazil. We are searching for a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Naperville, IL.

Summary

Candidate must possess significant experience in the design and documentation of complex medium to large building structures for commercial, institutional, mission critical, educational, aviation, or healthcare projects, and have demonstrated progressive growth in both technical and business aspects of engineering. The position requires leading and managing design team members while collaborating with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Associate Principals, and Principals in the delivery of projects, including design documentation and calculations.

This role involves direct interaction with clients, business and financial management of projects, and offers continued potential for career advancement and development.

Responsibilities Technical
  • Lead a team of engineers to perform the delivery of projects, including stamping project documents and calculations.
  • Occasionally perform under the direction of the licensed professional engineer who is stamping projects, in collaboration with other senior engineers.
  • Perform or oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing through hand calculations or computer modeling.
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of project design, documentation, and detailing.
  • Lead or oversee selection of project materials and structural configurations.
  • Prepare or oversee general notes, typical details, and structural specifications from master specifications, identifying any additional project-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
  • Oversee project deliverables and calculations to ensure quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Provide or oversee construction contract administration services, including responding to RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
  • Perform or oversee site observations and prepare written reports.
  • Author reports for diagnostic investigations and other studies.
  • Conduct peer reviews and seal own work and work of others under direct supervision.
  • Develop and present internal technical training content.
  • Participate in company committees focused on process improvement and maintaining standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and continuously review work processes for improved efficiency.
Supervisory
  • Lead the creation of project work plans with defined tasks and budgeted hours.
  • Manage and oversee team workload and design work sessions (internal and external).
  • Direct and review design team work for quality and acceptance.
  • Support leadership in staff performance evaluations.
Client Liaison
  • Attend client meetings and document discussions.
  • Serve as a technical resource and proactively identify new client opportunities.
  • Address and resolve client or project-related issues.
Business Development
  • Develop and grow networking relationships with external project contacts.
  • Begin developing market sector expertise in coordination with leadership.
  • Attend networking events, open houses, and industry conferences.
  • Participate in industry organizations and give technical or management presentations as appropriate.
  • Assist with project pursuit planning and may participate in pursuit interviews.
  • Collaborate with marketing to track client engagement through CRM tools.
Business Management
  • Assist leadership in maintaining project data, pipeline tracking, and proposal updates.
  • Support project billing and collection efforts.
  • Monitor project and personnel profitability and advise leadership on performance.
  • Maintain ongoing client communication to identify potential opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education, Experience, and Licensing
  • BS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis), required.
  • MS in Architectural or Civil Engineering (with structural emphasis), preferred.
