The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and electronic diagnostics in a mobile/field environment. This role works under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher and continues to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Make minor adjustments and repairs on varied truck equipment, such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, and air‑conditioning systems.
• Inspect, test, and analyze defective equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Identify problems, assess information accuracy, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
• Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
• Maintain and operate the company truck, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Work effectively with clients and customers, providing information and resolving issues.
• Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work using iOS devices and the TRAIT application, including photos of work performed.
• Complete DOT forms and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
• Operate independently and manage your daily schedule.
• Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
• Source parts from approved vendors as needed.
• Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Maintain the company truck and perform daily inspections.

• High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years of related experience; alternative combinations such as a degree/certification or 5+ years of experience are acceptable.
• Possess and supply a hand tool kit necessary for job duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
• Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
• Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Must have a Class C license.
