Job SummaryThe Physician reports directly to the NCH Physician Group’s CMO and is responsible for ensuring clinical excellence of Medical Services while fulfilling fiscal responsibilities. This role requires administrative, managerial, clinical, educational, and public relations functions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Communication with Administrative/Clinical Staff: develop an active communication strategy to keep staff informed about requirements.
- Organizational and Medical Ethics: define, focus, and resolve problems in collaboration with other Physicians and staff.
- Strategic Planning: develop practice’s strategic plan with long‑ and short‑term goals, evaluated annually and reported to the Board of Directors.
- Performance Improvement: follow the performance evaluation program created by the Quality Care Committee.
- Physician Recruitment: facilitate the recruitment of high‑quality physicians and other professional personnel.
- Contracting: understand contracts entered into by the NCH Physician Group.
- Litigation: help the administrative team prepare for and respond to litigation.
- Philosophy of Care: exemplify the clinical tone that sets staff standards.
- Performance Improvement: ensure services meet accreditation and regulatory standards and implement improvement programs.
- Oversee all medical care provided.
- Supervise Advanced Practice Nurses (ARNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
- Design, develop, and implement clinical programs for efficient, effective, economic care.
- Ensure appropriateness, quality, and integration of clinical procedures.
- Oversee clinical staffing processes.
- Provide clinical administrative consultations to expedite high‑quality patient care.
- Protect and implement patients’ bill of rights.
- Provide direct patient care when necessary.
- Serve as liaison to medical staff for communication with the Board of Directors.
- Clinical Supervision: direct supervision and orientation of licensed clinicians, ARNPs, and PAs.
- Problem Solving: resolve immediate clinical problems affecting patient care.
- Develop policies, procedures, and programs to address staff training and professional development.
- Represent NCH in the community through interviews, lectures, and consultations.
- Strategic Planning: participate in long‑range strategies for clinical and economic success.
- Marketing Plan: develop and implement an ongoing marketing plan, including community outreach.
- Clinical Marketing: develop programs that educate the community and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Enhance administrative and medical staff awareness for managed care collaboration.
- Participate in managed care negotiations as needed.
- Review contracts for clinical feasibility before approval.
- Respond to appeals, denials, and key communications with third‑party payers.
- Maintain education on contemporary managed care developments.
- Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer.
- Delegate responsibilities to qualified physicians or personnel while retaining ultimate responsibility.
- Perform other duties necessary to meet clinical and administrative goals.
- Experience obtained during formal education.
- Licensed in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification if required by specialty or scope of practice within 3 months of hire.
- Board Certified in specialty or Board Eligible with completion of certification within one year of employment.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
