Job

Purpose

As an ESOL Teacher, you will support the school's instructional program by identifying students with limited English proficiency, planning an appropriate developmental program for them, and implementing instruction in accordance with state law, regulation, and CSUSA curriculum. You will inspire and motivate young learners, putting students first in education.

How You Will Impact Education

Diagnostic Evaluation

  • Identify students as Limited English Proficient (LEP) in accordance with state law, CSUSA policy, and testing data.
  • Use standardized instruments, informal tasks, and observations to assess English proficiency levels.

Instructional Planning

  • Develop an instruction program that increases oral and written communication skills.
  • Select appropriate materials and media to achieve program goals.
  • Cooperate with the principal to group students and prepare for assigned classes.
  • Participate in curriculum planning meetings with staff.
  • Maintain an environment conducive to learning and uphold all relevant school policies.

Instruction

  • Meet with and instruct students according to scheduled plans.
  • Employ appropriate media and techniques to enhance oral and written English skills.
  • Assess progress regularly and maximize educational achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by CSUSA policy and state regulations.

Student Management

  • Create a safe, respectful classroom environment.
  • Implement policies governing student conduct and maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and enforce reasonable classroom rules.

School and Community Relations

  • Communicate with parents/guardians as required by state law and CSUSA policy.
  • Share professional insights with administration and staff.
  • Attend parent communication activities (e.g., Back‑to‑School Night, conferences).
  • Provide progress reports to classroom teachers and parents.
  • Consult and train staff on the cultural background of LEP students.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to CSUSA’s mission and values.
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Effective relational skills with teachers, students, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Reliable punctuality, follow‑through, and willingness to seek feedback.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Student Information System (SIS).
  • Strong student orientation, proactive initiative, and creative problem‑solving.
  • Good fit for the company culture and values.
  • Open to additional appropriate duties as required.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid teaching eligibility in ESOL.
  • At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Successful criminal and employment background check.
  • Prior experience in student instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ability to learn SIS navigation.
  • Commitment to CSUSA values.
  • Potential to perform additional designated duties.
Work Environment
  • Typical school working conditions; may be noisy during peak student traffic.
Physical Demands
  • No significant physical exertion required.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Travel within or outside of state as needed.
