SUMMARY

The purpose of this part time Ministry assistant is to help ensure success in the Kids Ministry for Sunday mornings, Wednesday, events, leader training, holidays and special programming.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work in coordination with the overall goals and objectives of First Naples.
  • Assist the Kids Director to work toward excellence in the Kids Ministry.
  • Basic personal responsibilities:
  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and meditation.
  • Lead yourself and your home towards Honesty, Honor, Humility, Hunger, the Holy Spirit, and Health (Emotional, Spiritual, Financially, and Physically)
  • Faithfully support the ministries of First Naples by maintaining wise stewardship measures over the resources entrusted to you.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner to glorify Christ and further the mission and ministry purposes of First Naples (Colossians 3:23-24).
SPECIFIC LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in preparing weekly ministry supplies (baskets with curriculum, and extra activities) as well as Monday clean-up in the resource room, Surf City, and rotunda.
  • Work early Sunday mornings setting up ministry signs/areas, classroom baskets and volunteer supplies.
  • On Sundays, be available to help check leaders in, communicate with the Ministry Assistant if needed, retrieve classroom numbers, move classrooms around if needed, manage and organize Sunday morning classroom activities, or fill any area needed.
  • On Wednesdays, help prep handouts/classroom needs for Awana leaders, decorate and tear-down the rotunda for the theme and classroom set up, work the Rotunda from 5:45pm-8pm, retrieve attendance numbers, check in leaders, communicate with Ministry Assistant if needed, and helping families.
  • Help with supply organization and materials for Kids Ministry events.
  • Assist with organization for Kids Ministry events, certain holidays and special programming.
  • Be an active team member during Kids Ministry events and specified holidays (i.e. Easter).
  • Manage all Kids Ministry Classroom assignments for special events (i.e. WCCP, VBS, etc.).
  • Help with special teams for ministry events (e.g. Decor Team).
  • Proficient on Rock or current database to help families during ministry hours.
  • Retrieve mail/boxes from the mailroom each work day.
  • Send "Birthday/We Miss You" Cards to kids monthly.
  • Step in to help staff volunteers when the Ministry Assistant is out.
  • Assist with organizing admin supplies (food orders, training documents, etc.).
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise volunteers during active ministry hours in Children s ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be skilled in organizing and supervising volunteers, creating and carrying out a creative vision, making classroom activity decisions, and accomplishing tasks in a timely manner. The individual must be able to accomplish tasks in advance to ensure each area of focus will succeed, as well as, make sure their area is staffed with another Children s Ministry Assistant if they cannot be present.

EDUCATION

AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Ministry related experience and/or training is encouraged.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The individual must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people, communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone, e-mail and in person, demonstrating tact and diplomacy. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with volunteers, co-workers, the public and church members and regular attendees. The individual must have the ability to understand written or oral instructions;

read, analyze and interpret complex documents, instructions manuals, policies and procedures is essential.

COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

The individual must have demonstrated skill in the use of PC systems to complete tasks, including word processing and spreadsheets and the ability to use the internet for information retrieval. The individual must have basic mathematical skills, knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting, and budget and expense monitoring. The individual must have the ability to read financial information and spreadsheets.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to simultaneously conceptualize and plan multiple tasks; project outcomes using different implementation strategies; and apply creative and innovative thinking to problem situations is required. The ability to work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions to ensure deadlines are met is essential.
